Children's Horse Decor-Eloise Inspired

HORSE CRAZY CHILDREN'S DECOR- CLASSY & PRECOCIOUS

I did not discover Eloise, the legendary Plaza residing, nanny bossing, animal loving, imaginative fictional child until I was an adult. I immediately fell in love with her precoscious personality and I confess that I keep the entire collection of her books in my office. Just a few weeks ago when visiting New York, we made our normal stop at the Plaza for a quick cocktail and I could not help but think that this gorgeous building housed the legendary rooms, like the Palm Court, that she would have frequented. Rather, I should clarify that these walls where were she would have the tormented the elegant patrons and the meticulously trained staff.

Much to my mother’s chagrin, I was the horse loving little girl that never outgrew my addiction, as everyone claimed I would. My poor mother dreamed of a little girl that wore pink dresses and played with dolls. I am sure that if she gave me the Eloise series, I would have passed on it to re-read my tattered copy of “A Very Young Rider." All I really cared about was my Breyer stable and its four legged occupants. My mother did hold power over my room décor, though. I distinctly remember the peach flowered wallpaper and matching balloon shades (hello 80’s) that adorned my walls.

Luckily for the little horse lovers of today, many companies and artisans cater to the horse themed bedroom that would be non-horse mom approved. If Eloise was an equestrian, she would have had a wonderful selection of furnishings that she could have “insisted” Nanny order.
