READ/ GLOSSY
THE HORSE RIDERS JOURNAL
“The Secret Live of Edie Campbell”

“The British supermodel takes us inside her life as a fearless event rider and talks consciously uncoupling with horses – and her ambition to go all the way to Burghley and Badminton.” – Horse Rider’s Journal

While The Horse Rider’s Journal posts select articles online, I highly recommend a subscription to this gorgeous print glossy published in Europe. The editors curate diverse content addressing the equestrian lifestyle with a cultural flare and the complementary photography is none other than beautiful.

PERSONAL STYLE:
Pampa Belts by Halo

Designed by Jackie Townsend, the owner of Halo equestrian boutique, each belt is handmade by a family in Argentina. These stylish belts add a fantastic pop of color to your wardrobe without taking a large hit on your pocket book. I purchased a Pampo belt stitched with a color palette of blues to coordinate with my navy riding blouses, but it is fabulous worn to the street with faded boyfriend jeans. SPECIAL NOTE: Accessories also available for the puppy in your life!
Available in multiple colors. $45-$55 US Dollars

SELF-HELP/EMPOWERMENT
AVAILABLE on AUDIBLE or HARDCOVER
“Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance” by Angela Duckworth

I devoured this book in 2 days and the assistant trainer in our barn finished it on a solo road trip. I believe most equestrians will relate to the findings of psychologist Angela Duckworth. She documents in-depth research and case studies to show “anyone striving to succeed…that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a special blend of passion and persistence she calls “grit.” This particularly applies to long-term goals.

Riding is full of peaks and valleys.  GRIT demonstrates that with perseverance, improvement is possible, even when a skill does not come naturally.  I know that slowly, but surely,  finding those perfect "hunter gaps" will happen for me!
